COVID-19 Forces Watches & Wonders 2020 to go Virtual

25th April 2020 would have marked the start of Watches & Wonders Geneva 2020 (formerly SIHH). However, and like many events out there not necessarily watch focused have started to pivot towards a digital platform to take place of the live interaction that we have come to love to hate due to the devastating impact of COVID-19.

This new virtual opportunity that Watches & Wonders have created will showcase the newest timepieces from brands that would have exhibited at the live show. With the brands agreeing go virtual the 30 companies will debut new watches together virtually online. Of the 30 or so manufacturers and brands they will have the opportunity to showcase their new products online, display information about their brand and their watchmaking expertise.

According to a statement issued by the FHH, there will also be customized content, educational experiences and more to satiate the appetites of watch collectors, journalists, bloggers and retailers.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with the finest watchmaking brands in the world to bring the Watches & Wonders concept to life online at a time when our industry needs it the most. This dynamic new platform will allow watch lovers everywhere to discover exciting new products, engage in enriching experiences, and connect directly with our participating brands in one place”

Fabienne Lupo, Chairwoman and Managing Director of the FHH

The virtual platform has been created in such a manner that it will be an alternative way for brands to meet and greet their audiences while showcasing their new creations. Although it cannot replace the actual physicality of the touch and feel process that we have come to expect it is the best alternative rather that losing the entire show in 2020. Watches & Wonders have confirmed that the online show will go live on Saturday, 25th April via watchesandwonders.com
